Tales of Wal-Mart
My mother and I went to Wal-Mart after church tonight, which has become almost a weekly ritual now, and I ran into a very interesting man in the music section. He just came up and started talking about music since I was looking at cd's and just asking what kind of music I liked and that sort of thing. He was in one of the motorized chairs and I noticed a large scar on his knee. We kept talking and I learned that he had been in an airplane crash about a year ago and was in the hospital for a while. He was originally from New York but was now traveling around the country going wherever he felt like. He talked about how people in these small towns would stare at him and try to figure out what he was up to just because he had an out of state tag and looked a little suspicious. I started to wonder why we judge people like that. I know I do it. Maybe not always purposefully but to some degree I think I know someone without even talking to them. It is definatley something we all need to work on. So I challenge you all. Find someone in the mall, at a restaurant, in the grocery store and just talk to them. Don't do anything stupid of course, but just have a conversation. You never know who you might meet.

The Men's Rebuttal
"Aeneas will wage a long, costly war in Italy, crush defiant tribes and build high city walls for his people there and found the rule of law. Only three summers will see him govern Latium, three winters pass in barracks after the Latins have been broken. But his son Ascanius, now that he gains the name of Iulus-Ilus he was, while Ilium ruled on high-will fill out with his own reign thirty sovereign years, a giant cycle of months revolving round and roung, transferring his rule from its old Lavinian home to raise up Alba Longa's might ramparts.
There, in turn, for a full three hundred years the dynasty of Hector will hold sway till Ilia, a royal priestess great with the brood of Mars, will bear the god twin sons. Then one, Romulus, reveling in the tawny pelt of a wolf that nursed him, will inherit the line and build the walls of Mars and after his own name, call his people Romans. On them I set no limits, space or time: I have granted them power, empire without end. Even furious Juno, now plaguing the land and sea and sky with terror: she will mend her ways and hold dear with me these Romans, lords of the earth, the race arrayed in togas.
This is my pleasure, my decree. Indeed, an age will come, as the long years slip by, when Assaracus' royal house will quell Achilles' homeland, brilliant Mycenae too, and enslave their people, rule defeated Argos. From that noble blood will arise a Trojan Caesar, his empire bound by the Ocean, his glory by the stars: Julius, a name passed down from Iulus, his great forebear."
The Aeneid - Virgil
I quote this passage to give you the pattern men should follow. As evidence to refute the lace laden men that prance around in books like Pride & Prejudice I give you men like Romulus and Remus, nursed by wolves, going about in wolves pelts, and founding great empires like Rome. This is all that is man. And come on ladies, deep down, you want this man.

Long Time Gone
I know...I know.... I've officially fallen off the face of the planet. Guess those 14th century scientists were right..and the world really is flat.
Actually I have just been in limbo of work and moving to my new apartment. Well mine and Brett's new apartment. And that has been fun. Every has to come down and stay here now.
But let's talk about how cool it feels to go to a laundro-mat to do your laundry. I mean we don't have a washing machine here in the apartment so I set out one day to be Mr. City Rat and go find a laundro-mat and I would do my laundry. You know...whites in one washing machine and colors in another....get it done. Be efficient. Just like all the cool people who live in the city on movies. So went through the task of finding a rinky-dink one with about seven washers. (Little did I know there was one in my apartmetn complex) Well about the time i get my first load in a group of 6 people walked in and took the rest off the washers. So....long story short. I got my laundry done in about 2 hours and got a lot of bible reading done. Then drove back in my complex and saw the laundro-mat i have not 3 doors down.
Gotta love it.

It's been long enough
Well I guess we have prolonged the posting absence long enough. If Adam isn't going to do it I will. Let's see where to begin. Harmony Highlands was awesome minus the dr*** ya'll can finish the rest. I don't have any pictures because I used a disposable camera instead of my digital and we are lacking a scanner. We saw Superman Returns which is an great movie but I would not recomend seeing the 10:20 showing unless you like arriving home at 2:00 a.m. but it was totally worth it. I went rafting for first time but it was awesome. And it helped that most of the people I went with had been many times before and we had Captain Lee on our raft so there was no trouble going down the Nantahala. I only fell out of the boat once and I am very glad that I did not go in the water by means of being tackled by Emily (Poor Jim). I also do not have any pictures from that adventure to post because of the same reason. And this weekend the ZRPB's will be attending Five Mile's anuual meeting (which i am looking forward to). I hope to see some of you there and I might be able to attend the Memphis meeting. Well I hope everyone else is having a good summer and I will try to figure out a way to get some pictures on here.

"Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
the blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and of the half-light
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."

Simple Home Remedies
Things that everyone needs to know.
(Disclaimer: Do NOT TRY ANY OF THESE THINGS. FOR COMICAL VALUE ONLY! I cannot be sued for anything you do on this list becuase if you do them you are too STUPID to sue.)
1. If you are choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat and presto. The blockage will be almost instantly removed.
2. Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting somone else to hold them while you chop away.
3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by simply using the sink.
4. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer.
5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button. (Sadly I thought this was a very good idea for me)
6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough. (My all time favorite.)
7. Have a bad toothache? Smash your thumb with a hammer and you will forget about the toothache.
Sometimes we just need to remember what the rules of life really are:
You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40
IF it shoudn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Going to State!!!
So as most of you probably know, I am on the varsity softball team at Corner High School. Well today we won the 2nd round of the playoffs and are one our way to the state finals in Montgomery. I am so excited!!! We have done very well this year. Unfortunatley towards the end of the game today one of our players dislocated her patella for the 3rd time so please pray for her and also pray that no one else is injured this week. Well I hope everyone else is having a good start to there summer. I have 7 days left of school and I can hardly wait. Only one month and 5 days until Harmony Highlands!!! Hope to see everyone there.

I'm Graduated!
Yes...that is right...I am now officially known as : Elyowenay RN
Because I have graduated nursing school along with my good buddy Cal-el RN. But here comes the hard part....what to do with the title of this blog since it does state "The Tyranical ravings of a sleep deprived nursing student."
I'll give you the readers the power to give me ideas on what to change it to.
Talk amongst yourselves....
