Warning: Likely to Anger

So this was one of the stories on the front page of the Birmingham News today,
"Animal chaplain prays, anoints, gives last rites". Yes, it is exactly what you are thinking. There is a pastor or actually several pastors who go around praying, anointing with oil, and giving last rites to...animals. Now I understand that some people are pet lovers but this is just too far. This man should be out helping God's people instead of praying for Fido. Here is a quote from the article, "... a Homewood-based chaplain who speacializes in caring for the spiritual needs of animals." What spiritual needs does an animal need?? I would really love for someone to explain that to me. But the real kicker is this one. This is straight from the "pastor's" mouth, "The greatest teachers of God's love are animals. It's the closest we can come to God's unconditonal love." Yes, I feel much closer to God when I am spending time with my rat terrior than when I am listening to His word or in fellowship with God's people. The man went on to explain how there just have to be animals in heaven and other ridiculous assumptions that would make me too angry to go back and read. I thought I would just share this with everyone to let them know how blessed we are to not be complete idiots as is half of our poplulation.

Definitely Bigger Than Pumba

So an 11 year old kid just took down this monster of a pig with a .50 caliber revolver. The scary part is that Hogzilla was found right outside Anniston, Alabama. Let's just say I would NOT want to run across this thing while I was camping. Oh yeah and I just saw Pirates of the Carribbean: At World's End and it was AWESOME!!! Just thought I would let everyone know.

What Is Truth?

Hi, I'm Back.

The famous question presented to Jesus by Pilate "what is truth?"

So what is The Truth as concerning the gospel? We as PB's believe that we are holding to the closest thing there is to the truth of the Word. Yet, I hear and confirm differences among the PB's about great doctrinal issues. After trying to catch up on everyone's blogs and reading a particularly interesting one by Nomos, I'm interested to know what people think the truth about doctrinal issues are, and what doctrinal issues we are supposed to fight for and which ones can we let slip for the sake of peace?

Tales of Wal-Mart

My mother and I went to Wal-Mart after church tonight, which has become almost a weekly ritual now, and I ran into a very interesting man in the music section. He just came up and started talking about music since I was looking at cd's and just asking what kind of music I liked and that sort of thing. He was in one of the motorized chairs and I noticed a large scar on his knee. We kept talking and I learned that he had been in an airplane crash about a year ago and was in the hospital for a while. He was originally from New York but was now traveling around the country going wherever he felt like. He talked about how people in these small towns would stare at him and try to figure out what he was up to just because he had an out of state tag and looked a little suspicious. I started to wonder why we judge people like that. I know I do it. Maybe not always purposefully but to some degree I think I know someone without even talking to them. It is definatley something we all need to work on. So I challenge you all. Find someone in the mall, at a restaurant, in the grocery store and just talk to them. Don't do anything stupid of course, but just have a conversation. You never know who you might meet.

The Men's Rebuttal

"Aeneas will wage a long, costly war in Italy, crush defiant tribes and build high city walls for his people there and found the rule of law. Only three summers will see him govern Latium, three winters pass in barracks after the Latins have been broken. But his son Ascanius, now that he gains the name of Iulus-Ilus he was, while Ilium ruled on high-will fill out with his own reign thirty sovereign years, a giant cycle of months revolving round and roung, transferring his rule from its old Lavinian home to raise up Alba Longa's might ramparts.

There, in turn, for a full three hundred years the dynasty of Hector will hold sway till Ilia, a royal priestess great with the brood of Mars, will bear the god twin sons. Then one, Romulus, reveling in the tawny pelt of a wolf that nursed him, will inherit the line and build the walls of Mars and after his own name, call his people Romans. On them I set no limits, space or time: I have granted them power, empire without end. Even furious Juno, now plaguing the land and sea and sky with terror: she will mend her ways and hold dear with me these Romans, lords of the earth, the race arrayed in togas.

This is my pleasure, my decree. Indeed, an age will come, as the long years slip by, when Assaracus' royal house will quell Achilles' homeland, brilliant Mycenae too, and enslave their people, rule defeated Argos. From that noble blood will arise a Trojan Caesar, his empire bound by the Ocean, his glory by the stars: Julius, a name passed down from Iulus, his great forebear."

The Aeneid -
Virgil

I quote this passage to give you the pattern men should follow. As evidence to refute the lace laden men that prance around in books like Pride & Prejudice I give you men like Romulus and Remus, nursed by wolves, going about in wolves pelts, and founding great empires like Rome. This is all that is man. And come on ladies, deep down, you want this man.
