For the Beehive

The Reason

What's a rainbow but a trick of light?
What's a sunset but the natural ending of a day?
Has it not been so since days began....giving meaning to time,
But for who?
But for man.

A sunset should mean only what its set to be,
So why has a sunset brought new meaning to me?
Why have sunsets began to warm my soul?
Natural heat surpassed by some Other glow.
Why have rainbows begun to trick light in me?
Light that is blind from the world's eye,
But bright,
Too bright to see.

The world itself has changed all anew.
It pulses with music unheard by some.
But heard by me.
It started its tune what seem like years ago,
Of course its probably always been there....
I just lacked the method to hear its melodies played.
Now the instrument of my soul tuned to its perfect key
The sounds bring new meaning to everything.
The sunset, the rainbow,
The valley, the stream,
The flower,
The girl.......ah...the girl.
The key to why this whole machination began.

Excuse me while I wax romantic

What is happiness?
Is it sunset on a beach,
How bout' a suitcase filled with money.

Is it an open road and a '69 Mustang,
or a book, a comfortable chair, and a rainy day.
Maybe a song,....THE song.

Oh yeah....I remember.

Better Together

So here are just a few of the newer hilarious
pics.

Gotta love these good times, and it helps that
they are spent with an awesome person
who is will to bow to my wishes and throw an
80's part where leg warmers and side pony-tails
were the "in" thing.

And it is also a point to make now that its now
8 months and counting.....

Is everyone counting with us?

I sure hope so.
Oh and if you like this..just wait till the reception.

The Makings of a Man

Man in his beginnings is but the dust of the Earth.
He is easily blown about by any wind.
Dis-persed, dis-connected, dis-astrous.
He cannot be set upon any path,
Because he is the substance that makes up the paths fit only for men to tread upon.
He is lost in the world, scattered by the slightest breeze, and dissolved by a simple rain.
Yet there is hope for him still.
There is a wind, however, that will change the state of man.
God in His infinite grace, and amazing delicacy takes this gathering of particles,
Brings them into order,
And breathes into them...life.
With this done, man can begin his journey.
Now this once useless conglomeration of dirt has a purpose, has a path, and a reason for existing.
So let him live for his Purpose.
Let him walk on the Path paved with gold.
And let his Reason for existing be the reason he will not quit till back to the dust he returns.

Jesus is all the world to me, My life, my joy, my all;
He is my strength from day to day, without Him I would fall.
When I am sad to Him I go, no other one can cheer me so;
When I am sad, He makes me glad, He's my friend.

Jesus is all the world to me, My Friend in trials sore;
I go to Him for blessings, and He gives them o'er and o'er.
He sends the sunshine and the rain, He sends the harvest's golden grain.
Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain, He's my friend.

Jesus is all the world to me, And true to Him I'll be;
Oh, how could I this Friend deny, when He's so true to me?
Following Him, I know I'm right, He wathces o'er me day and night;
Following Him by day and night, He's my friend.

Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better friend;
I trust Him now, I'll trust Him when Life's fleeting days shall end.
Beautiful life with such a Friend; Beautiful life that has no end;
Eternal life, eternal joy, He's my friend.

Lessons from David

After re-reading 1st and 2nd Samuel I come to this awesome story that I had forgotten about. 2 Samuel chapter 9. It's the story of David and Mephibosheth.
David asks one of his servants to find him anyone left of the house of Jonathan so that he may show kindness to them. What's so interesting about that is the fact that the house of Jonathan were the decendents of Saul, so technically by natural lineage they would have been the "rightful" heirs to the throne of Israel. Since David was the God appointed heir he took the throne after god dealt with all of his enemies. But there was the one guy, named Mephibosheth who was one of Jonathan's sons. Back in first Samuel he was taken up by his nurse and fled from Isreal because they feared David was going to kill him since he was the next in line to the throne.
So now we come to the place where David has been established as king and now he remembers a promise he made to Jonathan.
1 Samuel 20:13-17 - "But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house forever: no, not when the Lord hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth."
Jonathan and David had a special brotherly love. A brotherly love like what is talked about in Proverbs 18:24 "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."
Another point about Mephibosheth....he was lame in his feet, or crippled.
My point with all the set up here is that
1. David didn't owe Mephibosheth anything, barring the promise he made to Jonathan
2. Mephibosheth was a lame man so there was nothing he could have done to earn, or work out favor with David....he was pretty much useless
Yet what we see is that because of the promise he had made with Jonathan, whom he loved with a brotherly love that was deeper than any other, he took Jonathan's weak, cripple son and brought him to his house, and had him eat there and live in choice lands for all his days.
How awesome is that. The man who was already feeling pretty worthless from the fact that he was cripple, now comes before David thinking he is about to be killed on spot, and instead is given kingly meals, and lodging for the rest of his life.
It's a story of two things: A mirror of God's grace to us, a bunch of cripple nothings who deserve to be killed, but intsead were taken up and brought to eat at the King's table.
And also it is a testimony to how important brotherly love is in the church, amongst our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Would we be so forthcoming with grace and aid to one of our fallen brother's or sister's family?

This has just been on my mind for the past couple of weeks.

Failure of Technology

Now seeing that I have completed my exams I will give you a run through of what my post-exam ritual would be:

I would wake up...approximately 11-12:00 in the afternoon (if I was not working)
I then go get me some tea and a snack
I sit down in my comfortable computer chair
I lean down and push the power button
.............
Nothing
I clicked it again
.............
Nothing
Why nothing?
Because my motherboard is shot....and has been for the past couple months
So have I been able to play my computer game for hours upon hours, totally vegetating out and losing all grips on reality outside of computer chips and FMVs?
No...it has been torture. I only have one week of freedom and a brand new game to play, but nothing to play it on.

Anyone want to donate a computer?

Shamockary

Ok so let me just go ahead and say it....Ninjas win ALWAYS.

I was watching with my lovely fiance this show that I used to like, Ultimate Warrior. This one was between a Ninja and a Spartan. What they do for those of you who have not seen the show, they take a few of the basic weapons used by each warrior, do tests with them to see how much damage they can do, and then they put it all in a computer and run a series of tests to see who would win in a battle. Then they play it out in this over dramatic sequence of acting.
Here's the problem though.
Under no circumstance would a Ninja ever EVER go head to head, toe to toe with ANY enemy.
So this was from the beginning a farce.
Oh and yeah the Spartan won. Obviously. When you take a guy in clothe, and put him up against a man with a 4 ft shield, that guy wins. But first off, even then the ninja had so many opportunities to kill him and they didn't.
I'm calling shamockracy.
The Ninja would have poison shuriken, blow gun, or some other long range, shadowly, killed the Spartan before he knew he had a shield to protect him.
And even then, if you squared off, the Ninja had this guy blinded, feet wrapped up, and on the ground and still they didn't finish off the Spartan.

I hope you are just as outraged as I am.
Write your Senators.

Ode to the Founders

Quotes from our Founding Fathers: Extremist, Radicals, Revolutionaries

"A rigid economy of the public contributions and absolute interdiction of all useless expenses will go far towards keeping the government hones and unoppresive." Thomas Jefferson

"And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever." Thomas Jefferson

"Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories." Thomas Jefferson

"He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for it he violates this duty, he establishes precedent that will reach to himself" Thomas Paine

"All men having power ought to be distrusted to a certain degree." James Madison

"Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent Alliances, with any portion of the foreign world."
George Washington

"Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence, (I conjure you to believe me fellow citizens) the jealousy of a free people out to constantly awake; since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of Republican Government." George Washington

Hypothalamus Bumfuzzlement

Due to the increasing change in Earth's climate due to global warming health problems we have never heard of will start becoming more and more prominent. One such case is that of Hypothalamus Bumfuzzlement. This is a serious condition brought about by the widely swinging temperature degrees. When the temperature changes rapidly from 72 degrees F to 28 degrees F within 1 days the autoregulatory system of your body, controlled by the hypothalamus, becomes bumfuzzled. When this happens a person may experience occassions of feeling comfortable, and or mildly hot, and then suddenly feeling cold, or vice versa. This is a serious disease that can lead to such problems as having to wear sweaters in the summer, and tank-tops in the winter. This is just another reason why we MUST get global warming under control NOW! Before we all succomb to Hypothalamus Bumfuzzlement. Please contact your local representitive.

Near Death Experience - Lasted All Day

One simple equation, and for those of you who own Reef sandals you will understand:

Reefs + rainy day = near death experience when you try to run

The Church Survival Guide

Just some things I have been thinking on lately. Dodger always says I should write a book.

The Church Survival Guide: Discipleship 101

"Hi, what's your name?"
"Joe."
"Nice to meet you Joe. Are you new here?"
"Yeah, just joined last week! I'm really excited."
"That's awesome! Well, good luck."
"Wait....what?"
The Church today has gotten into a bad habit. We are all to ready to get you into the church. We push, pull, prod, and on occasion drag people to come with us to church in the hopes that they will have their eyes opened by God, and see the beauty of Zion. Countless sermons, and an innumerable amount of pamphlets are employed to help the current church member break down the barriers on the path to the Christian walk. All of this is an essential part of our duty as Christians. This falls under the category of "letting our lights so shine in the world." As little beacons of the Light of God we shine forth to show the way through the darkness for His children. The problem we have today, however, is that we flip the switch off after the person or persons actually join the church. The new born Christian comes to a service after he or she has joined and finds the same loving atmosphere they came for, but a lack of hand-in-hand care they once had. The Church all too often sees the new Christian as "in" and their job is complete. However, this is where the Church's role becomes vital.
Discipleship is the first key step in a new born Christian's life. Without it the Christian will fall back into the world, give up, or never fully grow up into the mature Christian they are called to be. For the Church to continue to grow, and continue to have a world changing impact as it did in the Apostles day then we as the Church body must take a drastically more involved role in the "new born's" life.

Just an introduction. There will be more to come. Or not. Who knows.

Naive thy name is Elyo'eynay

So I have finally realized that there is practically nothing good that comes out of Hollywood.
In a act of unheard of trust, and probably a huge helping of naivity, I went and watched a movie. Thinking that people had limits on what they would put out for the public. Of course I was wrong. A sucker once again. So pretty much from henceforth if it isn't rated G, or Harry Potter, then I probably shouldn't see it.
Might save $10.00 while I'm at it.

The Iron Maiden

She was a good ol' girl
Served her friends well
She never talked back, or shirked on her duties
Anytime she was needed, she was ready to go
A little warm up
A little prep and she would create the most perfect meals

But alas the cancer got her
It was the rust of her soul
Slowly, bit by bit, piece by piece she faded away
In the end she was nothing of her former glory
Such a waste
A life cut short
And though she may have come in with pomp
She went out to the dump.

Bye bye my grill.
The man strikes again.

Because Dodger of Sheep told me to

I am posted this in a response to a post on Dodger's blog. So for background click here.
But it is just my thoughts about Christians in the world today. And it's long.

I think what Monolog says if very true. But I think it gets back to something that I have been very adamant about lately: Christians have to get back to being Christians. We have turned the cheek way too much, and by that I mean we have turned the cheek away from the fundamental Christian principles and turned our cheeks to the world. We have adopted the idea "If we can't beat em', join em'."---but still trying to look like Christians while we do it. We have allowed the world and the devil to turn our churches into nothing more than social clubs, and sadly like dogs backed into a corner we bit back at the persecution in railing accusations that only further caused the world to look at us and say "Well you're just a bunch of orthodox,narrow-minded bigots. The reason being that in our fighting---and monolog I'm not saying that you are wrong about the fighting----we fought with the worlds ways. We stood on the principles of, let's just use homosexuality as an example because it's easy, and we said "If you're gay, you're wrong and you are a sinner" all the while our "christian" brothers are running around cussing, drinking, lying, stealing, and living lives outside the church that bring shame upon the church. Oh, but we arn't gay....so we're ok. The problem is that we aren't fighting like Jesus and the apostles fought. We arn't looking into the faces of our oppressors, and yelling at them with our actions. It's our actions that are our problem. We have to get back to living a loud Christian life. When we can do that we won't have to worry about losing ground, or having our crops stolen. Our crops will be firmly sewn in ground that no man can dig. Our churches, though they may not be overflowing, will be impenetrable fortress that can withstand any dart of the devil. And on top of it all, the world may still say to us "you're too close-minded" but they will also have to admit, maybe just on the inside, that if they were ever in trouble and needed anything we would be the first ones they knew they could go to for help. That's the dream. That's the fight. That's what we have to get back to if we are ever going to gain any ground for Christ here in this world. Unrelenting Christians that arn't just unrelenting in standing up for the fundamentals of 10 commandment values, but are living out the fundamentals of loving our neighbors, feeding the poor, taking in the strangers, and taking care of people who would never call themselves "church goers".

In Onore Del Padrino

"But, now you come to me and you say "Don Corleone, give me justice." But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me Godfather. Instead, you come into my home on the day my daughter's to be married and you ask me to do murder for money." Don Vito Corleone

"Bonasera. Bonasera. What have I ever done to make you to treat me so disrespectfully. If you had come to me in friendship then this scum that ruined your daughter would be suffering this very day. And if by chance an honest man like yourself should make enemies then they would become my enemies. And then, they would fear you." Don Vito Corleone

"Good. Someday, and that day may never come, I'll call upon you to do a service for me. But, until that day comes. Accept this justice as a gift on my daugther's wedding day." Don Vito Corleone

"I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse." Don Vito Corleone

"Never hate your enemies. It affects your judgement." Michael Corleone

"I don't feel like I have to wipe everybody out, Tom. Just my enemies." Michael Corleone

"Never let anyone outside of the family know what you're thinking." Don Vito Corleone

"I know it was you Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart!" Don Vito Corleone

"You could act like a man! What's the matter with you? Is this what you've become, some hollywod finnochio that cries like a woman?" Don Vito Corleone

"Do you spend time with your family? Good. Because a man that doesn't spend time with this family can never be a real man." Don Vito Corleone

"I spent my whole life trying not to be careless. Women and children can be careless. But not men." Don Vito Corleone

The I, Me Doctrine

I am a man,
I am my own man.
I am the captain of my destiny!
I am a derelict tossed in the waves.
I am an island!
I'm in the middle of an endless sea.

Which me, is the real me?

You are a Light in a world of darkness.
I am a spark,
Quick to start, and gone in an instant.

You are Truth in the hours of lies.
I am a second,
and I don't hold on for long.

Which me is the real me?
Where's the light that I'm called to shine?
What's the truth that should fall from my lips?

Who's the I, that I'm supposed to be?

Reintroduction

Well hello....I didn't see you sitting there. Due to the fact that all the cool kids are starting their blogs back I figure why not start my own back. I mean it was cool, we had fun doing it.
So as usual I will put a post that I don't have to put a lot of effort into, one of my favorite poems

(p.s. 1st post in over a year, and the 1st post of the year. You should say that about everything you do this new year...its just more fun that way.)

What's a rainbow,
but a trick of light?
What's a sunset,
but the natural ending of a day?
Has it no been so since days began....
Giving meaning to time,
But for who?
But for man.

A sunset should mean only what its set to be.
So why has a sunset brought new meaning to me?

Why have sunsets begun to warm my soul?
Natural heat surpassed by some other glow.

Why have rainbows begun to trick light in me?
Light that is blind from the world's eye,
Bright, too bright to see.

The world itself has changed,
all anew.
It pulses with music unheard by some,
but heard by me.
It started its tune what seems like years ago.
Of course it has probably always been there......
I just lacked the method to hear its melodies played.

Now the instrument of my soul tuned to to its perfect key,
The sounds bring new meaning to everything.

The sunset, the rainbow.
The valley, the stream.
The flower.
The girl.............ah yes, the girl.
The key to which this whole machination began.
